Effective April 30, 2026 · Developer: Gavin Sorvala · Contact: gsorvala@gmail.com
Summary
Probe is a chess-game analysis app. It fetches your public game history from Lichess and Chess.com (using public APIs), analyzes it on-device, and shows insights.
Data we collect
- Public chess game data — your username and games are fetched from Lichess and Chess.com using their public APIs. No login on those services is required by Probe.
- App preferences — your settings stored on-device.
- Email address — only if you contact us for support.
How it is stored
Game data and preferences are stored locally on your device. There is no Probe-hosted backend. There is no account.
Third-party services we use
- Lichess public API — governed by Lichess's terms at lichess.org.
- Chess.com public API — governed by Chess.com's privacy policy at chess.com/legal/privacy.
- Apple TestFlight — beta distribution.
What we do NOT do
- We do not transmit your data off-device.
- We do not sell or share your data.
- We do not require an account.
Children
Probe is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.
